Hello, everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve written here last, and we are now firmly into spring. I’m excited to be able to create again. Above all, I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who has stuck around. Today I want to share my cottagecore guide to a great spring. Even though I’m a little behind on sharing spring content, there are technically almost two months of spring left. Hopefully, this guide will help you find a few ways to make these next months memorable.
Cottagecore Activity Ideas
Firstly, I want to start by sharing ideas for some cottagecore-themed activities you can do to get into a spring mood. Some of these are pretty simple, and others require a bit more effort. I truly think there’s something for everyone on this list.
- Bake something fruity (For example, an apple cobbler or strawberry cupcakes)
- Treat yourself to a picnic, either alone or with your friends
- Write poetry, especially romantic or uplifting poems
- Press flowers (you can find guides online)
- Read a cozy cottagecore book or watch a cozy cottagecore movie
- Pick fresh flowers, or buy some from your local grocery store
- Sketch, paint, or draw nature
- Go to a local garden (many cities have ones with free admissions)
- Try embroidery
- Spend some time at a nature park. (They’re a good place to draw or write that poetry)
Spring Shows and Movies
Secondly, I want to share a few recommendations for cottagecore movies and shows that put me in a good mood.
- Bridgerton: This show is all the rage right now. If you like Regency-era shows, this might be for you. Season one is pretty “spicy” (if you know what I mean). However, season two is considerably tamer.
- She-ra: I definitely recommend the 2010s reboot. It has lovely colors and landscapes, and it’s packed with humor and adventure.
- Emma: Or any Jane Austen movie, really. I think they all have lovely spring vibes if you enjoy romance.
- The Great British Baking Show: This is a particularly cozy baking show, and it’s good to put on in the background while you do other activities
- Kiki’s Delivery Service: I think it’s hard to go wrong with any Studio Ghibli movies, but Kiki’s in particular makes me think of spring. (I also recommend Howl’s Moving Castle for spring).
Spring Books
Lastly, I want to share some recommendations for cozy books with strong spring vibes.
- The Tea Dragon Society: This is an adorable graphic novel about dragons and tea. I can’t think of a better combination. The art is lovely and filled with colors that remind me of spring.
- Poems by Emily Dickenson: I think poetry, in general, reminds me of spring, but Emily Dickenson has a very romantic style that suits the season nicely
- The House in the Cerulean Sea: This is a cozy magical realism story that explores what happens when you judge people without truly knowing them. The setting is lovely. Honestly, this is one of my favorite books.
- Howl’s Moving Castle: Studio Ghibli’s movie is based on this book, although the two follow slightly different plots. It’s an easy whimsical read that puts me in a spring mood.
- The Bookish Life of Nina Hill: This book follows a bookstore worker who lives in a cottage, and if that’s not cottagecore I don’t know what is. This one also has romance, if that’s your thing.
Conclusion
Thank you so much for reading! I hope this little guide helps you make the most of these last months of spring. If you do anything from this list, feel free to comment down below or tag me on social media.
Have a Great Day,
Elliot J. West (he/they)
