Hello, everyone! I just got back into town from a wonderfully relaxing Florida trip. It was a much-needed break, and now I feel refreshed and ready to go. Today I wanted to share a bit about my trip as well as a few tips on how to have your own spectacular trip to Florida. This definitely isn’t the end-all-be-all guide, and I think a lot of what makes a good vacation comes down to preference. That being said, here’s my guide to having a great Florida trip.
Try Visiting a Smaller City or Town

There are so many cool places in Florida that aren’t Orlando or Miami, especially if you’re not a fan of busy cities. Beaches outside of big cities tend to be less busy but just as beautiful. Plus the traffic is way better. It might take a bit of research, but you can definitely find some beautiful less-known places to stay.
I’m lucky enough to have family in Florida, so I tend to stay with them when I visit. They live in a suburban area outside of a small city, so it’s kind of the best of both worlds. Outside of the city is way calmer, but it’s only a short drive if we want to go do an activity. When choosing where to vacation, I recommend asking yourself if you care more about relaxing or being able to go do things. This will determine whether a town or a city will be more your style. I’m more of a relaxing vacation kind of person myself.
Don’t Be Afraid to Try New Food

Florida has a ton of opportunities to try great food. Seafood is what most people think of, and for good reason. I especially recommend trying it if you live inland. Fresh seafood is leaps and bounds better than frozen and shipped stuff. Florida also has some spectacular Cuban restaurants. Some of my favorite dishes include fried plantains and Cuban fried beef.
This time around I had the opportunity to go to an amazing Korean bbq restaurant. My husband and I went on a double date with my sister and her boyfriend, and we had a great time. Most Korean bbq places have you cook the meat yourself, directly on the table. It’s a similar vibe to fondue places if you’ve ever done something like that. I tried kimchi for the first time, which was fun. I’m a fan of kimchi cucumber in particular. I am a bit of a wimp when it comes to spice though, so I did have to be careful when it came to using the sauces.
Give Yourself The Space to Take it All in

Everyone has different speeds at which they enjoy spending their vacations. However, I think this tip is useful whether you like to chill by the pool or do every activity in sight. I think it can be easy to do so much during a trip you come home burnt out. On the flip side, doing too much of nothing can leave you feeling unfulfilled with your trip. This is where taking a few minutes to ground yourself comes in. For me personally, grounding myself each day allows me to better enjoy and appreciate my vacation.
There are many different ways this can look. You might want to watch the sunrise every morning and take some time to stretch. You could end each evening by dipping your feet in the pool and thinking of one thing you enjoyed from your day. I try to change it up on every trip I take. This time around I found one plant I liked each day and thought about why it made me happy. It only took a few minutes out of my day, but it helped me stay present.
Do you have any tips for having a good Florida trip (or vacation in general)?
