Hello, everyone! Today I want to share a poem I wrote earlier this summer called “Summer Comes Softly.” It’s a bit different from my other works, but I’m quite proud of it. I plan to share more of my creative writings in the upcoming months, so keep your eyes peeled for that. Let me know what you think in the comments. Anyway, let’s jump on in.
Summer Comes Softly
Summer comes softly
A cardinal song
Warm and light and
Airy as the breeze
Make no mistake
She doesn’t sing for you
Or any other man
A cardinal song
This untouchable thing
Bold and bright and
Flitting on the wind
Angel song she sings
For herself
Not for any man
Summer comes softly
A cardinal rule
Strong and brave
With wings cascading
Above wandering eyes
And whispers
Her song is not for you
The cardinal rule
This ancient thing
True and bold
She sings
With sun upon her face
As summer comes softly
She doesn’t sing for you
The cardinal rule
Is this.
